Fisher

Fisher → Little → Emmett

John Fisher a Bricklayer’s Labourer was born around 1856 at Heston in Middlesex, and he married Charlotte Lake in 1879, who was born in approximately 1859 also at Heston in England.

In 1891 John and Charlotte along with children were living at 4 Wooden Row in Hillingdon. Later the family lived at 8 Horton Road in Yiewsley in Middlesex. John and Charlotte had at least ten children with some called Charlotte, John, William, Mary, Beatrice, Harriett, Emma, Lydia, Edward and Frances, but sadly two died young. Charlotte died on the 2nd May 1928 and John on the 24th April 1934, and on their headstone at St Leonard’s it is written:

Time passes, but your faces
your smiles, your voices
and the happiness you spread
we will cherish for ever.

Harriett Fisher (daughter of Charlotte and John) was born in 1890 in West Drayton, Middlesex and at the age of 21 was a Frame Factory Polisher. Four years later in 1915 she married Joseph Little and they had a daughter Doris May Little in 1916. Sadly Joseph died young. Edwin Emmett married Doris and moved into the family home at 55 Woodlands Road in Southall, England. For many years the family lived together, along with Doris and Edwin’s two children. Harriett passed away in 1972.

Some of the Fisher family emigrated to New Zealand and at the time of writing their descendants are involved in producing milk and other farming activities.
